Gerry Rafferty’s "Baker Street" was released in 1978 and was a monumental comeback after three years of professional stasis, during which he could not release any new music after his break with the band Stealers Wheel. To meet with his lawyers, he spent hours riding overnight trains from Glasgow, Scotland, to London, where he would frequently crash at a friend's small apartment on Baker Street ... which is what this song is about.
