We had a nice 2.5 mile hike out at Occeeneechee Mountain State Natural area in Hillsborough, North Carolina. If you want a more challenging hike, go left on the trail in the parking area. Occoneechee Speedway 🏎️ Abandoned track from NASCAR’s inaugural 1949 season, this speedway has been sitting overgrown in the woods for decades — complete with rusting vintage race cars, the old wooden crows nest, the vacant grandstands, and even the stone stadium seating running along the dirt track.
