The Dawlish sea wall is open! What an amazing milestone for Dawlish. We spoke to the people that joined us for the opening and asked what they thought. | Coast Cams

This footage shows violent Storm Ingrid and huge waves crashing over the famous Dawlish sea wall, with mainline trains continuing along Brunel’s coastal railway as sheets of water slam into the carriages. Several wave impacts were so forceful that sea spray reached our live cameras mounted on top of the three-storey Sea Breeze Café, giving a rare perspective on just how extreme conditions became during storm Ingrid. Down below, in the stilling basin beneath the viaduct, the force of the sea caus
