Filing a Flight Plan, the old fashioned way. The Flight Service Stations in Alaska are extremely useful. The RCO communications system is a great resource when flying in a remote area like I do. Yes, I file a flight plan every single flight. I frequently get weather updates, insights on what weather cameras are showing, update my position and arrival time, give pilot reports, and have even requested favors like call ahead for fuel when I’m out of cell range, and update my customs arrival times.
