I can finally unveil this BIG commission! 😍 This one had a lot of important pieces that needed to fit together, so my clients and I started spent a good amount of time on the sketching stage before moving to color. As an owner and lover of horses myself, I know how important these little details are, and there’s no better feeling than bringing my client’s vision to life! 🥹❤️Are you looking for a custom painting of your own heart horse? My books are full for the rest of 2025, but if you sign up

This is it - the FINAL piece in my Stampede Collection! The sun is setting, the arena lights are shining through the dusk, and everything is still for a split second before the chutes open and the chase is on. Let’s ride! 🐎 This 18x36” will be available for purchase alongside the rest of the Stampede Collection on June 14th! If you would like the chance to take this painting home, make sure you’re signed up for my email list before then; subscribers will get early access to the sale. ❤️ #wester

Working on this stocky horse for my next piece in the High Country Collection. Painting backlighting can be so tricky - it always looks wrong to me until I hit about 75% of the way done! 😅#westernart #rockymountains #horseart #mustangs #westernpaintings #ranchlife #cowboyart #oldwest #cowgirlart #oilpainting | Sarah Dean Art

Here’s how I painted this commissioned scene! I absolutely love working with these dramatic, saturated colors. 🥰 My books are full for the rest of the year, but I will be taking new requests from my email subscribers in December! You can visit my website if you’d like to make sure you’re on that email list. ❤️#westernart #horses #horsepaintings #westernpaintings #ranchlife #cowgirls #oilpainting | Sarah Dean Art

“Last Light River Crossing” was painted to capture the warm light and long shadows that only appear at the end of a hot summer day. The last of the day’s heat simmers in the air as this herd cools down on their trek across the river - I can hear the splashes and soft snorts, can’t you? 😌 I have prints of this painting available for one week only! Visit the link in my profile if you’d like to be able to hang this scene in your home. ❤️#westernart #horses #horsepaintings #westernpaintings #ranchl

Believe it or not, the second sketch was way harder for me to complete! I used to trace out my hyperrealistic portraits and tell myself that I was “working on my shading”, but the truth is I would have matured faster as an artist if I ripped off the bandaid and started practicing freehand drawing every chance I got. You can only find your own style if you know how and when to deviate from the reference!#sketchbook #sketch #horsesketch #drawing #cowgirls #horses | Sarah Dean Art
