From its origins in Trinidad and Tobago, Calypso music has been the foundation for other Caribbean genres, including Reggae. Soca music, its offspring, thrives because of the essence of storytelling, rhythm, melody and sweet personality that Calypso birthed. Homage must always be paid. Respect must be given.
