Filmed in 1951 at Enewetak Atoll, deep in the Pacific Ocean, this declassified footage captures one of the most significant moments of the early Cold War — the U.S. nuclear tests known as Operation Greenhouse. Conducted by the Atomic Energy Commission and the U.S. Department of Defense, the operation aimed to study the behavior and efficiency of new atomic bomb designs, paving the way for the development of the hydrogen bomb. Operation Greenhouse consisted of four nuclear detonations: Dog, Easy,
