Remnants of tropical storm Chantal, the first storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season to make landfall in the US, have caused scattered showers and thunderstorms in parts of inland North Carolina.

The storm will continue to produce heavy rainfall across North Carolina and south-central Virginia into Monday, with rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches, and local amounts up to 6 inches.
