By Deepa Seetharaman and Kenrick Cai OAKLAND, California, April 30 (Reuters) - Elon Musk wrangled with Sam Altman's lawyer on Thursday over whether he had seen emails and documents discussing turning OpenAI into a for-profit company as he was cross-examined in a trial over a lawsuit brought by Musk that could determine the future of the ChatGPT maker.

Elon Musk on Tuesday testified that his lawsuit against OpenAI and its leaders goes well beyond one company and into the future of a technology that “could also kill us all.”

US District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers told Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to “control your propensity to use social media to make things worse outside this courtroom.” The warning came ahead of opening statements on Tuesday, one day after Musk posted a series of jabs at OpenAI’s leadership on X.
