A man was killed after an exchange of gunfire with U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents in southern Texas, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

The incident took place at the entrance of the U.S. Border Patrol sector annex in McAllen, a city in southern Texas that borders Mexico, according to the DHS spokesperson. Mosqueda fired dozens of rounds toward the building and agents inside, Rodriguez said.

The man opened fire on the building in McAllen, Texas, on Monday. A border patrol employee and two officers were injured, federal officials said.
