The National Weather Service issued a winter weather watch, storm warning or advisory for 30 states on Thursday, Jan. 22 morning ahead of a massive winter storm slated to bring nearly three feet of snow,

The major storm is set to hit starting on Jan. 23 and will stretch into the weekend, spreading snow and ice from the southern Plains to the Northeast.

A winter storm is expected across the South beginning Friday and the East this weekend. There is a lot of wiggle room here, but check back with us frequently to see if your area could be impacted.

Strong storms may move into SE Louisiana today, especially later. Damaging winds are the main concern with a low chance for a brief tornado.
