Homes and businesses in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina in the path of last month’s Hurricane Helene and the impending Hurricane Milton aren’t the only things being thrown into chaos. The same can be said about the electoral map itself in two swing states and a third where polling shows November’s election could be close.

Election officials in North Carolina and Georgia have reported that all hands are on deck to prepare polling locations for Nov. 5.

As Florida braces for Hurricane Milton, North Carolina is still grappling with the crushing destruction of Helene and its ripple effects. Tonight, the key battleground state is changing some of its voting rules to make it easier for people to cast their ballots.
