Days after Helene struck Florida's Big Bend coast as a Category 4 hurricane, Milton rapidly intensified into a hurricane and appeared to aim at Florida.

Milton is likely to become a major hurricane before hitting Florida on Wednesday, according to the National Hurricane Center.

In an advisory on Sunday afternoon, National Hurricane Center (NHC) meteorologists said Milton is traveling across the central and eastern Gulf of Mexico toward the west coast of Florida. It's expected to make landfall by Wednesday as a Category 3 or higher along the west coast of the Tampa area, reports CBS News.
