Footage released Monday shows off-duty Atlanta police officer Aubree Horton in a sheer panic, possibly experiencing “a mental health episode,” moments before he was fatally shot.

Aubree Horton, a nine-year veteran of the Atlanta Police Department, is accused of entering a residence through the front door in Winston, Ga. when he confronted the homeowner.

The officer, identified as Aubree Horton, had been with the Atlanta Police Department since 2015 and was most recently with the Fugitive Unit, the department told Fox News Digital.

Aubree Horton, 32, died in the early hours of Friday morning when he was shot by a homeowner in Winston, Georgia, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (GA) told Atlanta News First.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Aubree Horton was killed shortly after 5:08 a.m. after trying to enter a home in Winston, an unincorporated community about 30 miles from Atlanta.
